WEEK 1 RECAP
The Leaman Chargers started out week 1 with a bag with the C team securing a strong 32-12 victory over the Reading Longhorns. Quarterback Connor Carter led the way with a TD pass and a TD run managing the offense and keeping the team ahead of the chains for the majority of the game. Ryker Cummings had a big day on the ground as well running the ball and breaking tackles all over the field. The defense was led by Zachary Parcher with double digit tackles to stifle the Reading offense. Offensive and defensive lines controlled the line of scrimmage all day and set the tone for the afternoon.
The 7th grade B team fought hard all day in a tough 12-0 defeat against the Lamar Mustangs. The offense was led by Roberto Mendoza on the ground in what turned out to be some tough sledding on the afternoon. They look to bounce back against the Banks Gators next week.
The 7th grade A team started out the game with a bang with Braylon Darrell scoring on his 2nd carry of the night and the team never looking back after that with a 32-0 victory. Quarterbacks Parker Mueller and Zachary Siegert both threw touchdown passes to their receivers to complete the balanced rushing and passing attack on offense. Kirsten Edmonds had a DAY on special teams with multiple big hits running down the field covering kicks and the whole defensive line dominated from start to finish never allowing the Lamar rushing attack to get moving.
The 8th grade B team kicked off their season against the Lamar Mustangs in a tightly contested game but came out with a 20-12 victory off the arms and legs of quarterback Adrian Wall who threw for a touchdown and ran for one as well. The defense was led by Ryland Parks who set the edge and made several key tackles on the field.
The 8th grade A team faced off with the Lamar Mustangs as well and drove down the field on our first drive to take an 8-0 lead that they would never relinquish. Quarterback Jace Medica threw 3 touchdowns on the day with one to H back Isaac Carey and two to receiver Haniel Oguche. On defense Jaxon Heger set the edge and repeatedly forced the Lamar rushing attack back into the teeth of the defense. Gionni Hawkins provided great run support from the secondary and newcomer Zachary McBay connected on 2-3 extra point tries and had excellent kickoffs.
This week we face off with the brand new Ella Banks Gators seeing some new and some familiar faces as former teammates and former coaches face off against each other in the first of what is sure to be a great rivalry.
