RIVALRY WEEK RECAP

The DLJH Chargers outraced the Briscoe Eagles in a series of close games that came down to the very end! Every Charger team came out victorious this week to complete the program sweep. The 7C team had their bye week as they prepare for the championship game matchup against the Reading Longhorns in the rubber match between to closely matched teams. The 7B team collected their second win of the season off of a touchdown run by the quarterback James Cara who also had a long run in the 4th quarter to seal the victory. The defense held strong all day led by efforts from Roberto Mendoza and Gabriel McDaniel. Lyric Johnson provided the difference in the game with a PAT run along with several strong runs throughout the game. Keeping their playoff hopes alive, they simply have to win on Monday and they are in. The 7A team faced off with an evenly matched opponent with the victor stamping their ticket to the postseason. Quarterback Parker Mueller led two touchdown drives with short touchdown passes to Burke Bowen and Koa Wong, the second of those was on 4th down with the game on the line. The defense was led by Cason Willis who learned a new position on the fly and provided excellent contain allowing the rest of the defense to fly to the ball. Kicker Franco Moreno provided the PAT's that provided the difference in the 16-14 game with 2 clutch kicks depsite heavy pressure. The 8C team continued their winning ways against the Banks Gators on Tuesday. Jeremy Federick kicked off the scoring with a touchdown run and the Chargers never looked back. Quarterback Jace Loggins added two more touchdown passes to his resume connecting with Knox Nguyen on the next drive and Eduardo Acurero on a scramble drill. The defense was led by Joseph Toney who made several plays in the opponents backfield to help secure the 22-12 victory. The 8B team was in a dogfight from start to finish after falling behind early against the Eagles. They came back to tie the game up twice including with less than 2 minutes to go off of a strong run by Eric Baade who shrugged off tacklers behind the line of scrimmage to work his way into the end zone. Clutch kicks by Alessandro Collela ensured that the team would have a chance to either tie or win the game. With the game knotted up at 16-16 Briscoe had to attempt to work the ball down the field and the Charger defense came up CLUTCH with 4 stops including Brock Hoedel with a TFL on 4th down. This led to the Charger offense having the ball on the 49 yard line with time for only 1 play. Quarterback Adrian Wall took ran to the right, cut back and found a lane against the grain and followed a crushing lead block by tailback Kamren Woodson all the way to the endzone for the walk off touchdown run to win 22-16. The 8A team took a drive to get their offense rolling but once it got started it was smooth sailing from there with quarterback Jace Medica connecting with h-back Isaac Carey for 2 touchdowns and Mofe Olaleye for another to give him his 2nd game this season with 3 passing touchdowns. The defense was led by Parker Choat at the linebacker spot making great reads and playing with excellent leverage ensuring the Eagles offense never got settled in. The whole defensive line created disruption all night and played on the offense's side of the ball to ensure the run game never got going for Briscoe. The upcoming week is the final games of the regular season leading up to the playoffs, keep an eye out for more details soon!
